Today, we have the Hanged Man. This card represents the spirit of renunciation an sacrifice.
Key words with this card are life in suspension, transition, apathy and dullness, boredom, abandonment, sacrifice, repentance, readjustment, regeneration, improvement and surrender.
As I look at the figure in this card today, it feels like they're sleeping through a transitional period in their life. Their life right now is like a caterpillar in the cocoon, in a form of stasis. It's getting ready to change into the butterfly, but it isn't quite ready yet.
The thing is it's hard to give something up, and that thing is freedom. Enclosed tightly, the caterpillar can not go anywhere, and it feels like right now that this is our life.
In order for things to move forward, we first have to give something up. Once we release something away from us, it allows something new into our lives, but their maybe a bit of time when we need to rest or remain in stasis, for things to get ready to happen.
